The Middle East Synergizer was designed to inspire collaboration and innovation among people and organizations working to transform the nature of conflict in the Middle East. Our overall goal is to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to transform violent, destructive conflict into safe, creative conflict.
Over the course of three days, the event brought together seasoned peace practitioners and civil society allies who share a common interest in peace building, but who might not be aware of each other’s efforts. By working to identify, strengthen, and improve on what’s working, participants were able to discover synergistic values and efforts around three main objectives:
• Create collaboration between ongoing initiatives
• Connect peace practitioners to relationships and resources that support their work
• Generate new opportunities and strategies for transforming conflict.
And a new opportunity did emerge – training and educating young leaders in the Arab Spring with tools to be good citizens in a participatory government. The intention is to provide train-the-trainer events that connect and inspire young leaders while giving them tools and resources to educate their constituency on democratic change, all as a way to support the ongoing governance transition of Arab countries.
